& Benediction
8 years ago I was motivated to start my blog, "High Ground Underground," because the GOP had basically gone underground after losing both houses of Congress & the presidency. I thought conservatism needed all the voice it could get. I was looking back in the archive for my first post, about Obama's first week in office, out of curiosity, and couldn't find it (being new, I may have messed up). So I have now (re-)posted it, with a link below. Interesting to see how consistently bad he's been for 8 years. I'll be posting shortly about his horrible last weeks in office. But gladly, it's nearly over. And the tables are turned, with the Democrats now in the position we were in 8 years ago. But the title of my blog may still be appropriate, considering the liberal/Left dominance of the mainstream media, academia, etc.

Obama’s Scorched Earth & Landmines, Including the
Anti-Israel UN Resolution
Charles Krauthammer noted that Obama & crew are
laying figurative landmines for Trump as they leave office, to oppose and de-legitimize
him. E.g., opening the Comey
investigation (implying his Clinton email investigation statements influenced
the election) & the focus on Russian hacking (that also supposedly
influenced the election) & diplomatic retaliation after glossing over the
hacking of 20 million clearance holders a couple years ago. And to entrench his Leftist policies – like
setting up the federal takeover of state election mechanisms (reported only by
Mark Levin), and the US abstention in the anti-Israel UN vote that entrenched
de-legitimization of Israel, and gives fuel to the boycott & divest
movement, and to the radical Palestinians.
Of course Obama clearly has had all along an anti-Israel bias, even
meddling in their election. He’s got
their back, alright – just like the Roman senators who stabbed Caesar in the
back. And Obama’s been quietly (at least
the liberal media hasn’t reported) giving record numbers of pardons in his
waning days.
The UN anti-Israel measure came on Hanukkah (&
Christmas) eve. It was a cowardly US
abstention in the vote, orchestrated by the US.
It views all Jewish occupied areas since before 1967 as Palestinian –
including West Jerusalem, Wailing Wall, etc.
These were areas previously part of Jordan, who lost them in the 6-day
war that gave Jews access again to their holiest site – the Wailing Wall. Palestinians know they now have to do nothing
to pursue peace because the UN & US have given them a green light to their
anti-Israel propaganda & actions, including legitimizing support of
terrorism. In a sense, just another of
Obama’s unprecedentedly large number of mass pardons – adding Palestinian terrorists
to the US criminals pardoned. It adds
fuel to the boycott, divest & sanction (BDS) movement against Israel. And threatens the security of Israelis living
in “occupied” territories. More moral
equivalence.

Russian/Syrian atrocities in Syria are decried by this
administration, but after 8 years of inaction, nobody believes they will do
anything about it – least of which the Russians or Syrians.
China stole our underwater drone in international
waters – more adventurism (on top of their takeover of disputed islands in the
South China Sea) with no consequences other than verbal protests.

Obama is really going off the deep end in his final
few days. Today he commuted the sentence
of the traitor Manning who disclosed many thousands of classified documents to
WikiLeaks. What kind of message does
that send to the many thousands of “chumps” who fastidiously guard classified
information? Of course it’s in keeping
with the nonchalance of Hillary regarding classified information. But Obama isn’t even consistent – at the time
of the conviction, he said that we are a nation of laws. It’s also consistent with his release of
Guantanamo prisoners back onto the battlefield, the reduction of our military,
the policies that weaken us in the world like the Iran nuclear deal, policies
towards Syria, Russia, China, etc. He’s
definitely leveling the playing field – to our & the world’s detriment. He’s clearly not had our country’s best
interests at heart.
Obama’s Farewell Address vs Real Legacy
The farewell address contained many aspersions on
Trump and those who elected him – their xenophobia, etc. It was short on real significant accomplishments,
because there were few. But in keeping
with his campaigns, there was plenty of “hope” for the future. Hope springs eternal, despite proven policy (e.g.,
foreign) and legislation (e.g., Obamacare) failures.
Sean Hannity does a nice summary of the many failures
of the Obama administration:

Obama spent much of Tuesday’s farewell address boasting about his success, but
the facts paint a much different picture. The truth is, he oversaw the…”
Among other things, Obama is the only US president
to never have more than 3% economic growth – not even in 8 years. He doubled our national debt by $10 trillion (remember how he called Bush's increasing it by half that "unpatriotic"? What, then, is his -- treasonous?). He diminished our military at a crucial juncture. And his legislative record is the worst in
U.S. history – which means that since he relied more on executive orders than
compromise and bipartisanship, those executive orders can and are being just as
easily undone by his successor. And
together with his signature “achievement,” the disastrous Obamacare which is
already being repealed and replaced, so much for his “legacy.”
