Statue-Toppling -- Ignorance run Amok

Are there no limits to ignorance? Are they teaching any truth at all in schools anymore? Apparently not real history -- only Howard Zinn's jaundiced view, ignoring the "promissory note" (MLK) in our founding documents supported also by those who had inherited slaves, and generally freed them. Or perhaps they weren't taught to read, and couldn't read the name on the statue to the man who fought to free slaves and enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. Which of these "social justice warriors" who dishonor him has done more worthy of honor? In their narcissism they may well think they are deserving of statues to themselves -- "legends in their own minds."

They are just as deluded as John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Lincoln who imagined himself a justice warrior, and who also menaced Grant as described in "Killing Lincoln." The afternoon of the assassination, as Booth leaves a bar on his horse and encounters fellow actor John Matthews outside the theater, "Look," he says to Booth. "Over there." "Booth is stunned to see General and Mrs. Grant leaving town in an open carriage piled high with luggage. Julia is inside with another female passenger, while the general sits up top, next to the coachman. Booth trots after them, just to see for himself. He parades his horse past the carriage, turns around, and guides the bay back toward the Grants at a walk. He stares as the carriage passes, glaring at Sam Grant with such intensity that Julia will later recall quite vividly the crazed man who stared them down. It is only after the assassination that Mrs. Grant will realize who he was."

And of course the rest is history -- Booth's act alone resulted in the harsher, less conciliatory measures (than Lincoln advocated) implemented by Johnson, that in turn fanned racial hatred, division and violence, the KKK and Jim Crow. And set back the cause of racial equality and justice for generations, just as these modern Booths in the name of BLM and social justice. Deluded birds of a feather, both acting for acclaim on the public stage. Interesting that their colleagues have also defaced the Lincoln memorial. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;..." (Isaiah 5:20).

And apparently these courageous statue-assassins learned nothing of civility in their education. Does social justice exclude justice to all of society, or to history?

This is starting to look like a cross between the mob indiscriminancy of the French Revolution, the historical revisionism of Nazism and Stalinism, and the socio-political fascism of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. I'm sure these historical and cognitive geniuses have neither any knowledge of these, nor the self-awareness to draw such an analogy. And certainly not the ability to infer the inevitable consequences. No, "history and thinking bad, destroy good." Neanderthals.

We're eyewitnesses to the devolution of society. Courtesy of the progressive-Leftist indoctrination in our schools by the bitter, failed products of the '60's, having lived all those intervening years in their detached, alternate reality, and now vicariously culminating their lifelong quests.
