Yard Signs & Wake Up America Rally

Here’s my yard sign collection, including my newest addition – an inflatable GOP elephant yard sign holder.  Some neighbors put up large inflatable Halloween decorations the entire month of October, and since almost all are Democrats, I figure this is about the scariest thing I could put up for Halloween.  Especially with Romney’s latest polls.  I've since added an Elizabeth Emken sign (she's running against Dianne Feinstein).  Craig Huey is running for state legislature, and is in a race that will decide if the Dems get a veto-proof majority.

After hearing about too many liberal/Left rallies at the Federal Bldg. in Westwood over the years, I finally heard about a conservative one, titled “Wake Up America.”  Held Sunday Oct. 7, 2012.  Having to park a ways away was a good indication of the turnout.  It could be heard from a distance, in addition to the cars honking their approval (?) at the conservative signs and flags held by “demonstrators” lining Wilshire Blvd. adjacent to the rally.  And as one would expect, these were clean-cut, well-dressed, well-mannered people, unlike the other kinds of rallies and protests.

Probably some thousand-plus, mostly sitting on beach chairs on the grass in front of an elevated platform where there were alternately speakers and musicians.  And on either side of them were dozens of booths of various conservative organizations, Tea Party chapters, candidate & proposition supporters/opponents, book & media purveyors, bumper stickers, pins, yard signs, etc.

I went along all the booths, gathering materials, and chatting a bit.  Then went to listen to speakers – the first being Ben Shapiro, an orthodox Jew who co-hosts a morning talk show with another conservative, Heidi Harris, and a liberal.  He spoke of how the Left is all about collectivism & monuments (e.g., bullet trains) – sort of worshipping the Tower of Babel.  Collective work is good when it’s from the people, and not forced by central planners, but rather only as needed.  Free and happy people are the true monuments to a society.

Another speaker quoted a Dennis Miller tweet following the debate that “Obama ought to hope that ass-kicking is covered under Obamacare.”  And he mentioned that L.A. has the largest bunch of registered Republicans of any city in the country.  If every one of us voted, the Dems would lose in L.A., and California.  He said that private business is infinitely more moral than government because it doesn’t force you to buy products of poor quality that you don’t want.

Mark Issler introduced Dennis Prager.  Dennis said it’s time for us to assert ourselves verbally, intellectually, emotionally, morally.  He spoke of the Chutzpah & dishonesty of the Dems to appeal to college kids – and vote for saddling them with debt (national & tuition).  Tuition rises when government pours in cheap loan money.  It’s a form of child abuse to tell Black children that their country/community hates them & is racist.  This is the least racist country in the world, but the liberals must claim otherwise to garner support.  He said he doesn’t honor race, but character.  He spoke of the 3 trinities – the Christian one, the Left’s (race, gender, class) & the American one on the coins (liberty, e pluribus unum & in God we trust).  This is not an election, but a referendum on these opposing values – equality vs. liberty, secularism vs. “in God we trust,” and multiculturalism vs. e pluribus unum.  Lots of cheers at various points, and Dennis really gets worked up – moreso than on his radio program.

Dennis introduced Elizabeth Emken, candidate for US Senate opposing Feinstein, and pointed out that Feinstein refused to debate her – her positions are emotion-based rather than rational/moral/debatable.  She has to lie to win [like Obama].  Elizabeth apparently couldn’t speak because of a law that candidates can’t speak on federal property.

Finally, here are some good YouTube links.
