The ISIS-Driven Refugee Crisis
The photo of a Syrian
Kurdish refugee boy washed up on a Turkish shore has brought attention to, and
shock over, the massive refugee flood fleeing ISIS and heading for Europe, at
any price. Just another consequence of the rest of the world’s lackadaisical response
to the ISIS advance and horrors. This is what happens when the U.S. doesn’t
want to be the world’s policeman – there are no police, and the thugs are
running amok.
The Left’s
anti-authoritarian (at least anti-police) leanings also seem evident in the
notable lack of the Obama administration’s public expressions over the rash of
racially motivated U.S. police assassinations. They are outspoken at the drop
of the hat when a black thug is killed by a policeman, even before it’s clear
there was no racial motivation for most of the highly publicized cases that
form a false narrative for the “Black lives matter” movement.
There are several
million refugees or displaced persons (homeless within Syria , Libya, Iraq, etc.) who are fleeing ISIS. Hewett guest Mark Steyn recommended the
book “Camp of the Saints,” that 40 years ago wrote of a similar European
refugee flood & dire consequences. 95% good guys, 5% bad, incl. terrorists.
Europe is paying the
price. Germany has agreed to take in 800,000 refugees, which is a huge number
considering their size (about 80 million), though not comparable to the
relative size of the U.S. illegal immigrant population.
Some conjecture it’s
part of their still trying to redeem their image after the Nazi horrors. I saw evidence
of that premise over Labor Day weekend when I watched a new German movie,
“Phoenix,” that clearly showed the Germans are still, 70 years after WWII,
dealing with the issues of the Nazi horrors, and those who went along with it.
One of the trailers before the movie dealt with the same issues. But of course
once you’re anywhere in the European Union, you’re quite free to go anywhere –
there are no longer national border controls.
As if Europe didn’t
already have problems with the current Muslim population (e.g., the French
riots, terrorism, etc.), this new influx accelerates what Mark Steyn wrote
about in “America Alone.”
“[Mark] Steyn believes
that what he describes as "Eurabia", a future where the European
continent is dominated by Islam, is an imminent reality that cannot be reversed.”
Every Continental under the age of 40—make that 60, if not 75—is all but
guaranteed to end his days living in an Islamified Europe." "Native
populations on the continent are aging and fading and being supplanted
remorselessly by a young Muslim demographic."
“In his book America
Alone, Steyn posits that Muslim population growth has already contributed to a
modern European genocide:
“Why did Bosnia collapse into the worst
slaughter in Europe since the second World War? In the thirty years before the
meltdown, Bosnian Serbs had declined from 43 percent to 31 percent of the
population, while Bosnian Muslims had increased from 26 percent to 44 percent.
In a democratic age, you can't buck demography—except through civil war. ...The
problem that Europe faces is that Bosnia's demographic profile is now the model
for the entire continent.”
It’s not just a matter of ethnicity or religion
(racism or Islamophobia), which the Left of course would attribute to any
concern over all this. Although Islamic extremism is clearly the problem. The
great majority are not problematic. But as seen with previous generations of
immigrants, a fair fraction of the younger generation, to the extent it is not
assimilated, grows forgetful, restless and resentful and prone to troublemaking
or terrorism. And even several percent of many millions can cause a lot of
trouble, and be fertile ground for ISIS or other extremist recruitment.
As Bobby Jindal (an immigrant himself) noted regarding U.S. immigration problems, “Immigration without
integration is invasion.” And so ISIS is actually fomenting the European
invasion. And will continue to, as long as it’s allowed to continue to expand
and commit atrocities. And who knows how many of the so-called refugees are
actually terrorists already? Just as with our own borders in the U.S.
