Litigator- and A**-Kicker-in-Chief vs. the Leaks

Image
It would be nice if we had a commander-in-chief whom the troops (even avowed liberals like Gen. McChrystal) respected. But barring that, at least we have a litigator-in-chief who can, as he says, “kick some a**” -- in the courts and Chicago-style. And he’s got a strategy for a legal “surge” of new lawyers & government regulators that will result from the new 2,000-page regulatory bill – a whole new army of lawyers & SEIU members, to supplement the ACLU, the army of IRS agents to enforce the health care bill, etc. It would seem that Obama actually has created jobs – primarily in the government (he also took credit for the temporary census takers) and legal professions. That should do wonders for the economy and GDP, and towards becoming more like such economic bulwarks as Greece, California, LA,.... After all, if throwing a whole bunch of money at the recession hasn’t seemed to work, it must mean that we just haven’t thrown enough money at it. Never mind that that’s never ...

Hope and Change & the Mainstream Media (MSM)

Image
They've given him a pass for 45 days on the oil spill, too. As well as the Sestak deal -- more handiwork of that "Prince of Darkness," Rahm Emanuel. So much for another of his promises of change -- no more politics as usual. He seems to throw out occasional little token bones (verrry little ones) to try to pacify the center-right majority. Like a $100M cut drop in the bucket out of the trillion plus deficit -- like a bandaid when a tourniquet is needed (see a short video graphical depiction at http://www.wimp.com/budgetcuts/). Or the 1,200 "troops" on the border -- desk jobs, when at least 6,000 are requested and needed in the field. And he's politicized the Arizona illegal immigration bill to the hilt. Neither Holder nor Napalitano had read it but were very outspoken against it, though it basically is no more than existing federal law that they won't enforce. California & LA are not in the economic position to be boycotting anybody, or wasting ...

Big Bad Government – It’ll Huff & Puff & Blow Our House Down

Image
Follow the Prager University link to the right to the short video clip on "The Bigger the Government..." Bigger government is bad in many ways, and the Obama administration’s trend is clearly in that direction. 16,000 new IRS agents alone just to help enforce Obamacare. Other new beaurocrats to administer that and new regulatory commissions. For the first time in history, there are now more government union (SEIU) workers than private sector/manufacturing union members in the U.S. And the Obama administration seems bent on manufacturing (e.g., thru Congressional show trials/hearings) or worsening one crisis after another – a crisis du jour -- to provide the excuse for further government growth/intervention to address the problem. As that prince of darkness, Rahm Emanuel said, “You should never let a crisis go to waste” – it’s an opportunity to do what you ordinarily couldn’t. And we have yet to reverse any government bureaucracy – they only grow. Let's examine how b...

Foreign Affairs & the Space Program

Image
Obama's Foreign Affairs It must be reassuring to both our enemies and Americans that if they attack us or our allies with biological or chemical weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the Obama administration will not use nukes (our only viable WMD) against them. We wouldn't want to keep them guessing, or anything, after all. Obama's Space Program And just when I was hoping we could send Pelosi, Reid & Biden to the moon!

Patriots' Day 2010

Image
According to Wikipedia, "Since 1969, the [Patriots' Day] holiday has been observed on the third Monday in April, providing a three-day long weekend. Previously, it had been designated as April 19 in observance of the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. It is also a school holiday for many local colleges and universities, both public and private." Not to be confused with Patriot Day, a more recent observance commemorating 9/11. Political Shots And so, on this day of "the shot heard 'round the world," (that followed the first tea party) we might be mindful of the ominous political shots being fired by the Left -- one apparently a very violent one. Former president Clinton today warned of the parallels of the rise of right-wing blogs and talk radio, and events leading to the Oklahoma City bombing. And he said that people shouldn't demonize government. Of course it was his violent action...

Effects of Obamacare Tactics The Battle Ahead

Quotes Calling for a Return to Democrat(ic) Principles

In light of the resurgence in the entitlement, big-government mentality embodied in Obamacare, etc., it is instructive to see how far Democrats have strayed from the noble principles of their founder over 200 years ago, and leaders as recently as 50 years ago. Principles they need to return to. John F. Kennedy: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.” Thomas Jefferson (founder of the Democrat Party) quotes: On the Nanny State: “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” On Obamacare & dietary regulations: “Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now.” On redistribution of wealth & the welfare state: “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would no...
